The Youth Support Partner Supervisor is an experienced social services worker who ensures that communications with arrested youth and their families is developmentally appropriate, trauma informed, and will utilize screening and assessment tools to identify youth who are eligible to be diverted out of the justice system. This role requires supervision of Youth Support Partners, promoting developmentally appropriate, trauma informed practices, and assisting police operations staff and Youth Support Partners in responses to youth in mental health crisis.
Requirements
- Supervise the work of Youth Support Partners
- Provide professional mentoring and support to Youth Support Partners
- Promote developmentally appropriate, trauma informed practices in interactions with youth and families
- Offer suggestions and develop solutions to help promote effective and efficient work processes and innovative programs
- Identify areas where additional services are needed in communities
- Assist police operations staff and Youth Support Partners in responses to youth in mental health crisis
- Address concerns from youth, family members or police operations staff
- Supplement the work of Youth Support Partners in responses to youth in mental health crisis
- Collect medical and social history information required to properly assess the needs of the youth and family
- Conduct screenings and assessments to assist with diversion and service referrals
- Communicate with family members of arrested youth, answer questions, and assist with transportation support as needed
- Coordinate with intake probation to provide information relevant to decisions to release the child to guardians or hold in detention following arrest
- Refer eligible youth to pre-booking diversion staff
- Assist families and youth in making appointments and connecting to voluntary community-based services
- Maintain high levels of advocacy and member confidentiality
