The position is a post-doctoral fellow in the NIST PREP and Mines, Computer Science department, focusing on indoor localization, tracking, and navigation. The researcher will work with a diverse team of stakeholders, collect data, conduct research, and publish results in relevant conferences and journals. The position is based in Boulder and Golden, CO, and the salary is $81,000 per year.
Requirements
- PhD in Engineering, or a related field
- Knowledge of localization and tracking systems
- Advance knowledge and skill in applying theories, principles, and methods of a technical professional field
- Ability to define problems, perform background research, and execute a project plan
- Ability to consider precedents and use judgment to research and apply available guidelines
- Ability to present ideas and results in a clear, compelling, and persuasive manner
- Ability to work with the Institutional Review Board, the Research Protections Office, and other parties to ensure that any research involving human subjects is conducted ethically and effectively
- Experience with experimental design and statistical analysis including uncertainty quantification
- Experience with mobile mapping solutions such as mobile lidar scanning systems
- Proficiency with MATLAB and Motive. Experience with GIS software and Python preferred
