Accounting Specialist

The Accounting Specialist is responsible for accurately compiling and processing employee payroll data, including earnings and deductions, following established practices and regulations. Perform accounts receivable functions, and backup for other day-to-day accounting activities.

Requirements

• Collect, compile, prepare and process payroll data ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws by established deadlines using timekeeping and payroll software.
• Process and monitor garnishment orders and bi-weekly submissions of FSA and 403b files.
• Maintain employee payroll records, including timekeeping data, deductions, and benefit contributions and archive payroll records following retention guidelines.
• Perform accounts receivable functions to include review, coding, and processing of customer invoices, applying payments, follow up of outstanding balances, compliance with organizational policies and maintain organized and accurate accounting files and records for audit readiness.
• Perform as a backup for accounting activities, including accounts payable, general ledger, P-card program and banking.
