E S Resident Support Specialist-Shelter-NH

The Resident Support Specialist will provide supervision, safety, organization, and program management support to shelter residents, on-site Recovery Support Specialists, and volunteers. They will network with the greater New Haven shelters and social service system and collaborate with other Columbus House residential staff to provide a trauma-informed service environment.

Requirements

• Supervising homeless adults in a residential setting
• Managing, motivating, and directing clients
• Time management and organizational skills
• Knowledge of mental health, substance abuse, and dual diagnosis issues
• Computer literacy
• Culturally competent and able to work within a team
• Crisis intervention skills, confidentiality, boundaries, and universal precautions
• Harm reduction philosophy
• Bi-lingual English/Spanish preferred
