This is a tenure-track, full-time faculty position in the Biological and Physical Sciences Department, where the primary responsibilities are teaching, service, and professional development. The position is intended to be in Organic Chemistry instruction.
Requirements
- Teach assigned courses as scheduled
- Design curriculum with consideration of individual differences of students
- Participate in the identification of students with academic or other needs and respond accordingly
- Use technology in a manner appropriate to the nature and objectives of courses and programs
- Maintain accurate and appropriate records
- Communicate progress feedback and other relevant information to students throughout the semester
- Create and maintain accurate syllabi
- Participate in the selection of appropriate materials to support the course curriculum
- Conduct classes punctually and in accordance with the prescribed meeting schedule
- Employ and assist in the design and development of appropriate assessment techniques
- Work closely with students in the laboratory to maximize the instructional value of the laboratory
- Assist in the maintenance of instructional materials and laboratory facilities
- Create a positive classroom atmosphere that encourages active and collaborative learning
- Maintain posted office hours and use technology to assist in communication with students
- Encourage a sense of community among students
- Advise potential or current students within the discipline about the program, career, or transfer options available
- Refer students to appropriate student and academic support services
- Promote continual improvement as part of the cycle of teaching and learning
- Complete all mandatory performance evaluation measures within specified time limits
- Participate in instructional, departmental, or institutional research to improve educational effectiveness
- Evaluate teaching and assessment practices to continue improving them
- Provide feedback regarding the general operations of the department, division, and the College
- Participate in the interviewing, selection, and orientation processes of department faculty and staff
- Provide advice and/or assistance to faculty within the department, division, or College
- Attend faculty meetings as called by the President, Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs, Dean, or Department Chairperson
