The Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine seeks a dedicated Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) to join the ENFAH Emergency and Nursing Care team at the Cornell University Hospital for Animals. In this role, you will provide hands-on nursing care for emergency and hospitalized equine and farm animal patients while working closely with clinicians, house officers, students, and fellow technicians in a collaborative teaching hospital environment.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in veterinary technology from an AVMA accredited institution, plus NYS licensure (or eligible to be licensed within 3 months of joining) and one year of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to provide basic nursing care for equine and farm animal patients.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including but not limited to being able to move and lift 50lbs.
- Proficiency with point-of-care diagnostics, electronic medical records, and hospital information systems.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to remain effective and composed in fast-paced or stressful situations.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple tasks with strong attention to detail.
- Demonstrated commitment to fostering a positive learning environment and safely supporting the training of veterinary students and student employees.
- High level of emotional intelligence and sound clinical judgment, including knowing when to seek guidance from clinicians or senior technicians.
