The ADHD Support Worker will work within the Autism in Schools Team to promote the inclusion of children and young people with ADHD or similar presenting needs in schools. The successful applicant will champion inclusive practice and ethos, upskilling the workforce to meet needs effectively at the earliest possible stage.
Requirements
- Knowledge and experience with both ADHD and the UK school system
- Qualification at NVQ Level 3 or equivalent, ideally in a relevant subject such as Childcare and Education
- Knowledge of ADHD and wider neurodiversity, including potential areas of difficulty at school and supportive strategies and approaches
- Ability to communicate information to individuals and groups both in writing and verbally
- A commitment to work in a neuro-affirming way, demonstrating respect to children and adults of all neurotypes
- Experience of supporting children and young people with ADHD or similar presenting needs
- Awareness of SEND policies and procedures
- An understanding of safeguarding and experience of working within organisations with safeguarding procedures in place
