The family therapist meets with members of a family as a group or individually, to discuss emotional issues and provide treatment for mental disorders and psychological conflicts. The therapist typically meets with an entire family or specific members to discuss and examine the issues that are interfering in their lives. The position also includes dealing with important issues that may interfere with the functioning of the family and the home environment.
Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited program with a minimum of a Masters Degree in Counseling, Psychology or Social Work.
- Must have a valid Independent Clinical License in the state of Illinois (LCPC, LCSW or Psychologist).
- Must have at least two years experience working in a clinical environment.
- Ability to cope with the counseling needs of patients, mental health emergencies, and other stresses.
- With legal knowledge and ethical issues related to patient’s rights.
- Must have excellent communications and interpersonal skills.
- Ideal candidate may be required to be fluent in Spanish based on individual department needs.
- Applicant must have computer literacy required with the ability to travel.
