Master Production Scheduler (MPS)

The Master Production Scheduler owns the Master Production Schedule (MPS) and converts demand into a stable, capacity-feasible execution plan across manufacturing, kitting, staging, and shipment. The role balances customer promise, capacity constraints, and material availability while protecting plan stability and driving predictable execution.

Requirements

• Build, publish, and maintain a rolling MPS (with longer-range outlook as required)
• Create weekly (and as-needed) MPS updates that reflect true constraints and priorities
• Translate demand into a schedule that is capacity-feasible across critical work centers and bottleneck resources
• Ensure Materials Planning and Purchasing are working from a current, credible MPS so supply plans and staffing plans are synchronized with what will actually be built/shipped
• Partner daily/weekly with Production, Kitting, Receiving, Warehouse, and Quality to manage constraints, shortages, and execution readiness
• Run scenarios (expedite vs. re-sequence vs. split builds vs. alternate sourcing) and present recommendations with facts, risk, and cost/benefit
• Maintain planning master data quality critical to MPS performance
• Track and improve schedule performance through KPI dashboards and structured problem solving
