CENTRALE LYON - PhD thesis Development of Advanced Lattice-Boltzmann Simulations of Transonic and Transcritical Flows in Fatal-Heat Recovery Systems

This PhD thesis project aims to develop advanced lattice-Boltzmann simulations of transonic and transcritical flows in fatal-heat recovery systems. The project is part of the PEPR REVCO2 project, a collaborative effort among four research laboratories to develop a reversible supercritical CO2 Brayton cycle. The PhD candidate will work on implementing and validating real-gas models, assessing and improving the solver, and conducting simulations of supersonic real gas flows and realistic turbomachinery configurations.

Requirements

• Engineering or Master graduates (in September/October 2026)
• Strong background in fluid mechanics and numerical flow simulation
• Prior experience in CFD and/or CFD code development (e.g. Python, Fortran, C++)
• Team player, creative but thorough
