The CNC Operator will set up and operate computer-controlled machines to perform various functions on metal workpieces. The position requires experience with modification machines and tools, familiarity with CAD software, and knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles.
Requirements
- Review program specifications or blueprints to determine and set machine operations and sequencing
- Mount, install, align, and secure tools, attachments, fixtures, and workpieces on machines
- Transfer commands from servers to computer numerical control (CNC) modules
- Monitor machine operation and control panel displays and compare readings to specification to detect malfunctions
- Enter commands or load control media to retrieve programmed instructions
- Modify cutting programs to account for problems encountered during operation
- Adjust machine feed and speed, change cutting tools, or adjust machine controls when automatic programming is faulty or if machines malfunction
- Lift workpieces manually or with gantry crane and safely stage in warehouse area
- Implement changes to machine programs and enter new specifications, using computers
- Set up future jobs
- Work in business system to enter orders and ship material
- Keep machine clean and area free of debris and work hazards
- Conduct tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance
- Package and prepare panels for delivery to customers
- Comply with all company policies and safety procedures
- Other duties as assigned
