We are looking for a Data Architect to help design and evolve the data architecture that powers Elsevier’s next-generation publishing and peer-review platforms. The successful candidate will play a key role in transforming our submissions ecosystem into a modern, data-centric platform that supports new submission experiences, AI-enabled workflows, and enterprise-wide data reuse.
Requirements
- Strong experience in data architecture and domain modelling
- Experience applying Domain-Driven Design (DDD) principles
- Expertise in conceptual, logical, and physical data modelling
- Experience designing multi-tenant data architectures
- Strong SQL and relational database design skills
- Experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, or cloud-native databases
- Data Platforms & Integration
- Experience with data platforms such as Snowflake or data lakes
- Designing ETL / ELT pipelines
- Experience with event-driven architectures
- API design experience (REST, GraphQL, OpenAPI)
- Modern Architecture

- Experience working closely with software engineering teams
- Ability to guide technical implementation and reduce architectural complexity
