As an Industrial Controls Engineer II at ENGIE, you will design, program, and support industrial control systems and the industrial networks that connect them across the University of Iowa utility system. This is an on-site, hands-on engineering role in Iowa City.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Automation, Technology, Electrical, Computer, or related) with a minimum of two (2) years of ICS/controls experience
- Hands-on experience with PLC programming and HMI development in industrial environments
- Strong troubleshooting capability, including root cause analysis across control systems, instrumentation, and communications
- Experience designing, configuring, or modifying industrial control systems in live environments (beyond maintenance or calibration activities)
- Ability to safely implement changes in live operating environments with a strong safety mindset
- Experience with industrial instrumentation, control devices, and system integration (utilities, manufacturing, or similar)
- Working knowledge of industrial communications and controls standards (e.g., IEC 61131-3 languages, industrial protocols)
- Relevant certifications (e.g., ISA CAP/CCST or OEM platforms such as Rockwell, Siemens, Emerson) are a plus
- Clear communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with operations, technicians, and leadership
