Job Description
Eon is seeking a Data Storage & Ingestion Consultant to design and implement their end-to-end data pipeline, focusing on a large-scale neuroscientific data collection effort. The role involves architectural design, infrastructure setup, performance optimization, and operationalization of the pipeline within a multi-petabyte storage environment. This is a contract position requiring on-site presence in San Francisco during initial setup.
Requirements
- 5+ years designing and deploying high-throughput storage or HPC pipelines
- Deep hands-on with NVMe RAID/striping, ZFS/MDRAID/erasure coding, PCIe topology, NUMA pinning, Linux performance tuning, and NIC offload features
- Experience building tiered storage systems (NVMe → HDD/object)
- Practical S3/object-storage know-how (AWS S3 and/or on-prem S3-compatible systems)
- Data integrity & reliability: snapshots, scrubs, replication, erasure coding, and backup/DR for PB-scale systems
- Networking: 25/40/100 GbE
- Ability to spec and rack hardware
