Museum Collections Assistant

A part-time Museum Collections Assistant position is available at Leicestershire County Council. The role involves assisting in the care and management of museum collections, including documentation, integrated pest management, environmental monitoring, storage improvements, and movement and location control. The position also involves promoting the use of the collections to a wide audience, supporting the safety and security of collections, and working alongside colleagues in the Collections and Conservation team, the Museum Curatorial team, and volunteers.

Requirements

• Maths and English GCSE
• Level 3 qualification (2 A levels/ BTEC extended diploma/ NVQ 3)
• Proven knowledge and experience of working or volunteering with museum collections
• Experience of museum collections care and management processes including handling, packing and moving objects
• Knowledge of digital and social media and its applications for museum collections
• Cataloguing or documentation skills relevant to museum processes including working with electronic databases
