The Sustainability and Environmental Affairs Student Co-op will support the Licensing & Permitting staff by assisting with environmental reviews and permitting support for maintenance and new construction projects across electric and gas operations.
Requirements
- Conduct environmental reviews for maintenance and new construction projects using GIS mapping tools
- Review mapped project areas to help determine required local, state, and federal permits and identify environmental constraints
- Assist in preparing maintenance notification letters to support clear communication with regulatory agencies
- Support permitting strategy development and regulatory compliance efforts
- Conduct field work, including site visits to substations, construction sites, and company rights-of-way
- Assist with site inspections, environmental compliance observations, and protection of surrounding resource areas
- Collect soil or water samples for site pre-characterization, when required
- Support construction compliance inspections to ensure adherence to permits, mitigation requirements, and company Best Management Practices (BMPs)
- Assist in coordinating and overseeing outside environmental consultants
- Collaborate with Sustainability & Environmental Affairs staff, as well as Engineering and Operations teams
