Job Description
The Cook is responsible for preparing and delivering meals for residents, guests, and employees in a long-term care home. Key responsibilities include preparing meals, ensuring proper food handling techniques, and adhering to time schedules. Qualifications include a Food Handler's Certificate, Red Seal Certificate, and experience in large quantity food preparation.
Requirements
- Food Handler's Certificate
- Red Seal Certificate (preferred)
- Experience in large quantity food preparation (preferably in a healthcare or retirement setting)
- Knowledge of Provincial Food Premises Regulation and Canada's Food Guide to Healthy Eating
- Knowledge of special and therapeutic diets
- Physical ability to lift and transfer heavy, hot items and stand for majority of shift
- Proficiency in a second language (asset)
- Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) or willingness to obtain one
