Requirements
- B.S in Mechanical Engineering or higher
- Strong in Mechanical Engineering principles
- Demonstrated knowledge or experience in applying mechanical engineering principles
- Strong working knowledge of industry design tools for simulation and mechanical analysis
- Demonstrated ability to use design tools and in applying them in complex troubleshooting situations
- Effective verbal and written skills (e.g. for technical reports and presentations)
- Self-starter, takes the initiative in applying, developing and communicating technical issues
- Familiarity with industry standards including ASME B31.3 and/or ASME B31.1 and other industry codes such as ASME VIII, ASME VIII Div. 2, API 530, API 560
- Able to run, self-check, implement flexibility analysis of piping systems using industry software packages (such as Caesar II or equivalent)
- Interaction with 3rd party vendors and/or EPC companies
- Ability to interact with drafting groups for drawing generation, quality control, and drawing implementation
- Finite element analysis (FEA) understanding or previous experience (such as Abaqus or equivalent)
- Previous experience with fired equipment (e.g., steam cracking, process heaters, combustion equipment)
- Knowledgeable in some or many of the sub-specialties of olefins manufacturing processes such as steam cracking furnace technology and/or previous experience inside of chemicals/refining/fired equipment in manufacturing environment
