Application Engineer - American Fan

Fairbanks Morse Defense is a leading marine defense contractor seeking an Application Engineer to provide pre-sales technical expertise and quoting support to the sales team, channel partners, and customers. The ideal candidate will have a degree in Engineering or a related field, 2+ years of applications experience, and strong technical writing and communication skills.

Requirements

• Review customer specifications, drawings, and requirements to recommend appropriate product solutions.
• Prepare technical proposals, cost estimates, and formal quotations.
• Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing to ensure proposals are feasible and aligned with internal capabilities.
• Provide technical support to reps, sales, and end customers throughout the sales process.
• Maintain a high level of product and application knowledge.
• Support continuous improvement by identifying product gaps, market trends, and customer feedback.
• Ability to organize and manage multiple projects with precision and professionalism.
• Strong technical writing and communication skills.
• Familiarity with ERP/CRM systems.
• High moral and ethical standards, demonstrating respect for the individual and team, and setting an example for compliance with laws, regulations, and corporate requirements.
• Strong work ethic and the ability to set and achieve goals.
• Proven ability to quickly assess complex issues and identify root causes/key success factors.
• Decision-making skills including knowledge of varying decision-making styles and appropriateness of each balanced with the necessity to escalate to proper channels.
• The ability to interact with diverse cultures and demonstrate effective communication skills with associates, suppliers and customers in a variety of business functions.
