The Prevention Educator position at Ulster Prevention Council involves planning, implementing, and coordinating prevention education in school and community settings. The role requires teaching, facilitation, and public speaking skills, with a focus on substance-use disorder and prevention.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Teaching, Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, or related Human Services field OR comparable mixture of education and demonstrated proficiency.
- Minimum two years of experience in teaching, facilitation, and/or public speaking.
- Minimum two years’ experience working with youth.
- Knowledge of (or ability to learn about) substance-use disorder and substance-use prevention.
- Ability to engage youth using a strength-based and culturally competent perspective and approach.
- Strong planning and written, verbal, and organizational skills, including the ability to work with students, staff, faculty, and community members.
- Quickly adaptable to changing ideas, responsibilities, expectations, and scheduling as related to program needs.
- Use and familiarity with technology and multiple forms of media and comfort using PCs and Microsoft Office software.
- Understanding of, and experience working with, an evidence-based curriculum
- One year of experience in substance-use prevention.
- Program monitoring and evaluation.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus.
- Familiarity with social media and content creation.
