Job Description
WMTW-TV is seeking an Assignment Editor to capture the essence of community events and contribute to news coverage in Portland, Maine and surrounding areas. This role involves gathering and organizing press releases, digital content, and communicating with newsmakers, assisting with content planning, and managing a team. The ideal candidate will have excellent scanner skills and a willingness to stay calm in a fast-paced news environment.
Requirements
- Experience listening to police scanners
- Experience with digital platforms (especially social media)
- Knowledge of FTP (File Transfer Protocol)
- Familiarity with local newsgathering technology
- Ability to gather information quickly and communicate effectively
- Ability to remain calm and level-headed
- Willingness to work multiple shifts, including weekends and nights
- Related military experience will be considered
