The Payroll Specialist is responsible for performing end-to-end payroll processes in a timely and accurate manner in accordance with Company and regulatory requirements. This includes preparation, auditing, distribution and reporting processes, providing support for payroll accounting, regulatory reporting and filing requirements and providing customer service to internal and external customers.
Requirements
- College Diploma or university degree in business, accounting, or relevant field
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred
- 5+ years of payroll progressive experience
- Technical knowledge and proficiency in Workday payroll preferred
- Experience working with other payroll systems required
- Experience in accounts payable or other related accounting functions
- Strong knowledge of US payroll legislation and Canadian legislative requirement including CRA regulations
- Excellent understanding of accounting fundamentals and payroll best practices
- Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams)
- Team player with a positive attitude
- High degree of professionalism and client focused
- Strong work ethic and ability to deal sensitively with confidential information
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
- Ability to communicate with various levels of management, employees, and government agencies
- Solid problem-solving and exceptional analytical skills
- Demonstrated initiative and strong decision-making ability
- Proven time-management and multi-tasking skills; able to manage multiple competing deadlines without compromising accuracy and compliance controls.
