Mechanical Engineering - Reliability Intern (Fall 2026)

Formlabs is looking for a R&D Test Engineer Intern to work on reliability engineering for their 3D printing products. The role will involve developing test plans, analyzing field failures, designing automated testing equipment, and collaborating with the design team. The internship is full-time, onsite in Somerville, MA, and will last from September 14 to December 18.

Requirements

• Develop, execute, and manage system, subsystem, and component level validation test plans
• Perform hands-on and data-driven root cause analysis to triage field failures and electromechanical systems
• Design, build, and implement automated testing equipment for subsystem characterization and reliability/environmental testing
• Collaborate with the design team throughout product development to perform risk assessments, manage continuous testing, and contribute to design reviews
