Gas Controller

As a Gas Controller at FortisBC, you will be responsible for monitoring pipeline data to ensure safe, efficient operating conditions, reliable customer service, and optimum purchases and sales on a 24-7 basis. You will analyze and respond to alarms, control pipeline pressures and flows, and coordinate response to emergencies. You will also be responsible for forecasting daily gas requirements, determining availability of gas for interruptible sales, and producing reports for management and other departments.

Requirements

• Diploma from an accredited post-secondary institution in a directly related field
• Five years of directly related experience in Control Room, Pipeline Operations, Plant Operations, Field Instrumentation, Pipeline Hydraulics Planning, Design Engineering
• Working knowledge of computer systems operations, environment, and peripherals
• Mechanical aptitude and knowledge in pipeline hydraulics, gas (fluids) processes, pipeline operations, field equipment, compression and control systems, and thermodynamics
