The Director of Hardware Engineering provides strategic leadership and technical direction for Fluke's hardware engineering organization. The role is responsible for long-term lifecycle management, world-class hardware development practices, engineering discipline maturity, and robust execution from concept through sustainment.
Requirements
- Lead the full hardware engineering lifecycle—from architecture and requirements through design, verification, launch, sustainment, and end-of-life.
- Establish and mature discipline-specific hardware engineering best practices across electrical, mechanical, PCB, and test engineering.
- Serve as the senior hardware subject matter expert, ensuring strong alignment with systems, firmware, software, product management, and manufacturing stakeholders.
- Develop long-term lifecycle strategies including component selection, obsolescence mitigation, and sustaining engineering.
- Lead external staff augmentation, including SOW creation, negotiation, and quality governance.
- Build organizational depth through technical mentorship, succession planning, and leadership development.
- Drive strategic supplier engagement to ensure component availability, cost optimization, and technology co-innovation.
- Guide hardware capability investments and roadmap alignment with business strategy and future market needs.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, productivity, and engineering efficiency.
