Job Description
Under limited supervision, manages a caseload in representing the State of Missouri on criminal prosecutions to include motions, preliminary hearings, plea agreements, and all aspects of court, jury trials and probation violation proceedings.
Requirements
- Reviews police reports to determine if charges should be filed; requests additional information from officers as needed; conducts interviews with officers, victims, and witnesses.
- Files charges and prepares necessary documents to file with courts; sets bonds and specials conditions for each case.
- Prepares cases for docket by reviewing and analyzing facts, issues, and criminal histories of defendants.
- Conducts all aspects of trials.
- Attends and participates in monthly case review meetings and various other staff and client meetings as needed.
- Serves as 24-hour on call Prosecuting Attorney on a rotating schedule to issue arrest and search warrants during non-office hours.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
