Master's Thesis - Analysis of Power Distribution Network Structures and Grid Simulations

The Fraunhofer IEG conducts research in the fields of integrated energy infrastructures, geothermal energy, and sector coupling to support a successful energy transition. As part of the research project V2Xplore, this master’s thesis aims to develop a methodology for deriving representative distribution grid models for Germany based on publicly available data from medium- and low-voltage power networks.

Requirements

• Ongoing university studies in Electrical Engineering/Information Technology, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
• Knowledge of electrical energy systems or willingness to familiarize yourself with this field
• Interest in data analysis and processing, as well as in combining heterogeneous data sources
• Good German and very good English language skills (written and spoken)
• Solid programming skills in Python
• Structured, independent, and reliable way of working
