The Fraunhofer Institute (IOSB) is seeking a Research Scientist in the Preforment Development Area for Active Laser Fibers to advance the state-of-the-art in fiber lasers with its team of scientists, engineers, and technicians. The role involves research, development, and optimization of fiber preforms and glass chemistry, focusing on wavelength ranges for various application areas. The ideal candidate will contribute to projects related to defense and innovation.

Requirements

• Develop processes for fiber preform production using MVDCs.
• Optimize fiber preform performance for multi-clad fibers, polarization-preserving fibers, and photonic crystal/band-gap fiber preforms.
• Evaluate laser architectures using optical and mechanical tools.
• Write reports and publications in English (or German).
