Provides interpreting and other support services for deaf and hearing-impaired students to facilitate communication among hearing-impaired students and their hearing peers, classroom teachers, and other personnel.
Requirements
- Interacts in a professional manner with students, parents, and teachers
- Provides services to students, parents, and teachers for conferences according to District policies
- Maintains confidentiality of students and student records
- Works cooperatively with school administrators, teachers, support personnel, parents, and community agencies
- Enforces regulations concerning student conduct and discipline
- Provides required information for substitute interpreters
- Models appropriate use of language: oral, written, and signed
- Demonstrates accurate expressive and voice interpreting
- Adheres to RID Code of Ethics as it applies to the educational setting
- Provides tutoring and/or note-taking services for hearing-impaired students when necessary and when interpreting is not needed
- Complies with conditions as stated in contract
- Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator
