The Checker/Cashier position is responsible for providing accurate and efficient checkout service to customers, performing stocking and other duties, and maintaining a neat and well-groomed appearance at all times. The job involves operating a cash register, handling sales transactions, and assisting customers with bulk products. The Checker/Cashier must also be knowledgeable about store policies and procedures, and able to perform all duties in an efficient and satisfactory manner.
Requirements
- Observe all store rules and company policies
- Maintain a neat, well-groomed personal appearance at all times
- Adhere to all local, state and federal health and civil code regulations
- Be qualified, knowledgeable, able and prepared to perform all duties of an experienced grocery clerk
- Count cash drawer daily
- Add up or record purchases of customers into a cash register efficiently and accurately
- Be knowledgeable in and able to recognize or differentiate between various types of produce merchandise carried in the store
- Assist customers with bulk products that they may have difficulty in handling
- Collect money from customers and tender accurate change in accordance with company policies and procedures
- Process various types of sales transactions accepted by the store
- Bag or package merchandise according to established company policies or procedures
- Stock merchandise in assigned sections
- Handle damaged or spoiled products and return-to-stocks according to company policy
- Comply fully with all safety policies and procedures
- Greet all customers and provide them with prompt and courteous service or assistance
