GEICO is seeking an experienced Engineer with a passion for building high-performance, low maintenance, zero-downtime platforms, and applications. As an Engineer II, you will scope, design, and build scalable, resilient distributed systems, engage in cross-functional collaboration throughout the entire software lifecycle, and participate in design sessions and code reviews with peers to elevate the quality of engineering across the organization.
Requirements
- Programming experience with at least one modern language such as C#, GO, Java, or C++ including object-oriented design
- Proven understanding of microservices oriented architecture and extensible REST APIs
- Experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and current systems
- Understanding of HTML-5, JavaScript/TypeScript, XML, and JSON
- In-depth knowledge of CS data structures and algorithms
- Experience with GIT and the overall GIT lifestyle
- Understanding of existing Operational Portals such as Azure Portal
- Experience with continuous delivery and infrastructure as code
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong problem-solving ability
- Practical knowledge working in an Agile environment
- Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of developer tooling across the software development life cycle (task management, source code, building, deployment, operations, real-time communication)
- 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of experience with architecture and design
- 2+ years of experience building products in microservices-oriented architecture and extensible REST APIs
- 2+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud service
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience
