Job Description
North Star Fishing Company is seeking Fishmeal Technicians for their state-of-the-art fishing trawler. The role involves operating the fishmeal processing line, maintaining equipment, and participating in shipyard periods for maintenance and repairs. The position entails 14-hour shifts and requires adherence to safety protocols and quality standards. Successful candidates will contribute to the company's mission of producing high-quality frozen-at-sea groundfish products.
Requirements
- Must have basic mechanical skills to perform maintenance and repair of equipment
- Must possess an understanding of meal and oil plant operation and production
- Must follow all company, OSHA and vessel safety guidelines
- Must be able to stand on their feet for extended periods of time where physical work may be required, including lifting items of up to 50+ lbs.
- Must be able to work independently and efficiently in a timely manner
- Proficient computer skills including MS Suite
- Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and percentages
- Able to communicate effective in English, both verbally and in writing
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to effectively troubleshoot equipment or process failures and apply solutions
