The Senior Grant Accountant supports the Finance Department in all accounting functions for partner non-profit organizations. This role involves assisting with grant preparation, compliance, and financial reporting. The position requires meticulous attention to detail, strong accounting skills, and effective communication with funders and other stakeholders.
Requirements
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in grant accounting.
- Demonstrated experience in payroll processing and benefits administration (minimum 2 years).
- Strong knowledge of payroll systems, compliance requirements, and benefits reporting.
- Experience reconciling payroll and benefits accounts within a nonprofit or multi-program organization preferred.
- Experience with contracts and/or grants administration, specifically around management allowable costs.
- Knowledge of federal, state and private grant budgetary restrictions as applicable.
- Mathematical skills to calculate and analyze complex financial formulas.
- Experience using complex automated financial, payroll and personnel systems, spreadsheets, databases, web browsers, etc.
- Interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact and communicate with a diverse population of staff, coworkers and external contacts.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills to identify problems, gather related information from diverse resources, analyze complex data, and develop meaningful solutions to specific problems.
- Knowledge of policies, procedures and applicable laws relating to the maintenance of confidential and sensitive information
- Knowledge of and ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Suite.
- Proficiency in Netsuite software preferred.
