Under the supervision of the Head Coach, the Assistant Coach is working in the primary capacity of an educator and enhances the student-athlete experience and satisfaction as well as raise the College’s image and reputation through building and maintaining a competitive athletic program. The Assistant Coach is responsible for assisting the Head Volleyball Coach in educating, coaching, training, assessing, mentoring, and recruiting members of the team. The Assistant Coach will work closely with the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach to assist in developing plans for individuals and teams and implementing methods to prepare our student-athletes for success physically and emotionally.
Requirements
- Instruct student-athletes on the rules, fundamentals, regulations, equipment, and techniques of flag football as it relates to individual student-athletes and team needs.
- Collaborate with the head coach on determining game strategy, coaching of student-athletes during games and practices, practice preparation, film, and individual development of student athletes.
- Recruit and retain qualified students in accordance with the Hartwick Men’s and Women’s Volleyball Program and College standards and in collaboration with the head coach.
- Assist the head coach and department in the administrative functions of the program.
- Demonstrate commitment to excellence, innovation, and diversity in undergraduate teaching by building healthy relationships with students, responding to their concerns, advising students both personally and academically, and contributing to their personal growth and academic success.
- Assist in planning, developing, and implementing a strength program that prepares student-athletes for success physically and emotionally.
- Educate student-athletes on proper nutrition and supplementation as well as proper lifting techniques.
- Communicate effectively with staff athletic trainers, assist with the rehabilitation and assist in coordinating strength programs based on student-athlete injuries.
- Consistently check all equipment to confirm it is in compliance with NCAA, E8, and all safety regulations.
- Assist and lead administrative duties within the program including equipment and gear, travel, fundraising, and community service initiatives.
- Participate in major campus events, including Welcome Weekend, True Blue Weekend, and Commencement Weekend.
