Doctor of Physical Therapy

Requirements

• Meet patient goals and provide quality care by assessing, planning, treating, and progressing patients through outcomes-driven PT.
• Evaluate and interpret findings to create PT treatment plans (in consultation with physicians, by prescription, or through direct access)
• Deliver treatment including manual therapy, active neuromuscular release, myofascial release, trigger point release, positional release, dry needling, manual exercise, nonmanual exercise, corrective exercise, taping, ambulatory and functional activities, daily-living activities, and instruction in assistive/supportive device use.
• Administer PT treatments including massage, traction, physical agents, moist packs, ultrasound, and directing treatments provided by assistants/aides.
• Track outcomes and adjust care by observing progress and recommending modifications, with specific tracking and measurement through use of PSFS and FOTO
• Support discharge planning and continuity of care through HEP design, patient and caregiver instruction, and equipment recommendations
• Document services accurately, maintain confidentiality, and comply with safety, infection-control, and regulatory requirements
• Maintain equipment readiness through preventive maintenance and troubleshooting
• Continue professional growth through workshops, publications, networks, and professional societies
• Contribute to staff development through education and in-services as needed
