Job Description
We are currently seeking a Pharmacy Tech to join our Whittier Clinic Community Pharmacy team. This position is full-time with benefits, 80 hours per pay period, day/evening shift, and every 4th weekend. Bilingual English/Spanish required.
Requirements
- Answer phones for the pharmacy department and direct calls to appropriate personnel
- Maintain knowledge of the Hospital Credit and Collection Policy and other related policies
- Prepackage, prepare, label, and hand out prescriptions after they are checked by a registered pharmacist
- Maintain cash registers, credit card machines, and reporting for cash transactions
- Prepare daily deposits for the cashier's office
- Bill and credit patient medications
- Stock inventory in Pharmacy
- Routinely check and remove outdated and expired medications
- Deliver medications to patient care and ancillary areas and pick up new orders as scheduled
- File prescriptions and reports
- Maintain the pharmacy in a clean and organized fashion
- Enter outpatient prescriptions
- Obtain and record patient drug histories
- Triage orders, determine priorities, process orders, and notify the pharmacist as appropriate
- Perform various calculations to determine the correct dose using weight
- Identify the appropriate product to process based on the prescription order
- Triage insurance rejections and initiate prior authorization claims as needed
- Use appropriate pharmaceutical-medical terms, abbreviations, and symbols
- Maintain a working knowledge of general chemical and physical properties of drugs
- Compounding medications as per Minnesota Board of Pharmacy rules and regulations
- Is responsible for safe and careful handling of chemotherapeutic medications
- Assist with other duties as assigned but only after appropriate training
