Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner – Neurosurgery (1.0 FTE)

This position is for a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide medical and surgical management of complicated neurosurgery patients in hospital and ambulatory settings.

Requirements

• Conduct comprehensive and interval physical assessments of neurosurgery patients
• Help manage medically and surgically complicated Neurosurgery patients in collaboration with the Neurosurgery Team
• Order and interpret appropriate labs, radiological studies, and other tests per established criteria and monitor scheduling of patients for special tests
• Educate and inform patient and family of medical/neurosurgical condition and plan of care
• Work closely with clinic staff to ensure discharged patients are scheduled with the correct clinic provider and have the appropriate follow-up tests ordered
• Function well as a team member with residents, nurses, and APPs to assist with their education and growth
• Help develop standard work in the care of the Neurosurgery patients from leading quality improvement projects
• Actively participate in research in the department
