Controller / Accountant

Newtonbrook Block & Supply is a family-owned Canadian manufacturer of concrete products seeking a full-time Controller/Accountant to manage the company's finances, providing accurate and timely financial information to the owners and acting in an advisory capacity for all departments. This is a unique opportunity for an ambitious individual to advance their career and learn the business from the top down.

Requirements

• Accounting designation - CPA (CA, CGA, CMA)
• Post-secondary Degree/Diploma
• Construction industry experience an asset
• Accounting experience with strong knowledge of GAAP, book keeping and financial reporting, general accounting, A/R, A/P, cost accounting, payroll, inventory management and control
• Ability to assemble and interpret information in order to mitigate future pitfalls or to realize future savings
• Able to understand and communicate business goals and recognize opportunities for performance improvement
• Logical clear thinker who can organize and plan
• Able to communicate clearly with ownership and co-workers
• Able to work with and manage people effectively
• Thrives in a small team environment
• Experience in cost accounting and operational efficiency in a production/manufacturing environment an asset
