Provides students with learning activities and experiences to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical and social growth.

Requirements

• Plan a program of study that meets individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning.
• Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for individual differences.
• Guide the learning process toward curriculum goals and establish clear objectives.
• Employ instructional techniques and media consistent with physical limitations and student needs.
• Assess student accomplishments on a regular basis and provide progress reports.
• Refer students for evaluation by district specialists as required.
• Maintain accurate records and assist administration in implementing policies and rules governing student life and conduct.
• Plan and supervise assignments for teacher aides and volunteers, and evaluate their job performance.
• Maintain and improve professional competence, participate in district staff development, and attend staff meetings.
• Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students, parents, and community members.
