Newport News Shipbuilding has an opportunity for a Structural Engineer to join their E12 submarine engineering team. The role involves analyzing, researching, and developing structural engineering specifications for product design, operation, and maintenance.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program
• 5 years of relevant exempt experience, or Master’s Degree and 3 years of relevant professional experience, or Ph.D. and 0 years of experience
• Comprehensive knowledge of processes relating to ships systems, construction, and overall structure design
• Demonstrated ability to manage and direct the work of others
• Ability to interface intelligently with trades, management, and the customer
• Experience with welding processes and NDT requirements, including component fabrication and assembly and final outfitting
• Strong knowledge of dimensional control systems and practices
• Effective oral and written communication skills
• Versed in the ship certification process
• Specific knowledge of SUBSAFE requirements
