Job Description
The CytoPreparatory Technician prepares and stains clinical specimens for microscope evaluation, using independent judgment to determine the appropriate processing technique. Maintains accurate and complete records of cytology specimens and laboratory functions and participates in providing instruction to students in cytology processing and record keeping.
Requirements
- HS grad or GED Equivalent
- Knowledge of various complex and lengthy laboratory techniques and procedures
- Ability to use independent judgment in processing cytology specimens
- Maintenance of quality control records and patient results
- Ability to perform routine maintenance
- Use of hospital and laboratory information systems
- Preparation of reagents, chemicals, and stains
- Knowledge of safety regulation and protocols
- Assistance with special laboratory projects
