We are looking for a Senior Legal Counsel to join our growing team. The successful candidate will provide legal advice to business partners and Human Resources on employment-related issues, including employment litigation, employment standards/CNESST claims, and mediations. The role requires a minimum of five years of relevant post-call legal experience in a large law firm or in-house environment advising on employment and corporate litigation matters.
Requirements
- A minimum of five years of relevant post-call legal experience in a large law firm or in-house environment advising on employment and corporate litigation matters.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, with minimal supervision, while juggling competing priorities.
- Experience assisting companies respond to CNESST complaints and at mediations, and attending settlement conferences in non-employment litigation matters.
- Strong business acumen that demonstrates experience applying the law in a manner that provides solutions to our business partners and takes into consideration business priorities and risks.
- Ability to distill complex problems and apply analytical and creative thinking to manage risk.
- Strong legal writing, drafting, and verbal communication skills are essential.
- Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to influence others.
- Can build strong professional relationships with colleagues and clients.
- Can educate and influence decision makers (with an emphasis on simplifying problems and reducing complexity).
- Experience working in a regulated industry (financial services, telecommunications or similar) would be considered an asset.
- Bilingualism (french and english) - Necessity to interact on a regular basis with colleagues across the country.
- No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.
