Electrical Technician II’s are responsible for wiring PC boards, controls, switches, and various other electrical assemblies from schematics, layout diagrams, and written specifications.
Requirements
- Identify and properly wire general utility circuits and their components including but not limited to exit lights, GFCI’s, internal and external lighting fixtures, receptacles, and switches.
- Layout, bend, and install EMT and rigid conduit according to NEC code.
- Identify wire and cable to be used in installations based on prints and diagrams.
- Safely pull and run cable and wire, adhering to conduit or cable tray fill requirements.
- Properly terminate a variety of wire and cable in panels, circuits, and various electrical components including switchgear, UPSs, transformers, circuit breakers, relays, terminal blocks, VFDs, etc.
- Layout and mount a variety of electrical components and fixtures according to mechanical drawings and code requirements.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose causes of electrical or mechanical malfunction or failure and make necessary repairs, adjustments, or changes, ensuring these changes are relayed to proper channels for drawing redlines and updates.
- Understand, interpret, and follow current NEC code, MSHA code, and other codes as necessary to install electrical circuits, electrical components, and proper grounding and bonding infrastructure.
- Read and interpret a variety of mechanical and electrical prints including single line and three line wire diagrams, control schematics, and cable schedules.
- Use a strong foundation in electrical theory to problem-solve and troubleshoot electrical issues or failures.
- Consult job travelers to find required information for the project including prints, torque sheets, bills of materials, and any other pertinent special customer requirements.
- Safely operates and properly uses – wire strippers, crimpers, drills, utility knives, conduit benders, reciprocating saws, and other hand and power tools as required.
- Read and use Multimeters, Volt-Ohm meters, Hi-pot equipment.
- Use overhead crane, forklift, hoists, to assist in electrical assembly and moving materials/projects.
- Properly care for and maintain tools in good operating condition; ensure tools and equipment is properly stored at the end of each shift.
- Maintains regular and consistent job attendance, comes to work on time.

- Must maintain a safe and clean work area at all times.
