
Job description
The Junior Coding Associate (Contractor) supports IntusCare’s Risk Adjustment team by performing State Encounter coding activities. This role is focused on accurate and compliant coding of assigned encounters under the direction of the Manager of Risk Adjustment and Encounter Coding. This is a task-oriented, entry-level role designed for individuals developing foundational coding skills in a structured, quality-controlled environment.
Apply CPT and E & M codes in accordance with AMA coding standards and specific requirements for state encounter submission. Ensure accurate code selection reflects the complexity, medical decision-making, and time documented by the provider for each encounter. Ensure coding is supported by appropriate clinical documentation. Accurately document coding decisions using established templates and tools.
This role is ideal for individuals with active coding certification (CPC, CCS, RHIT, or CRC preferred) and a basic understanding of medical terminology and diagnosis coding. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow defined processes are also required.
