Conservation Technician

The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum seeks to preserve the permanent collection of sculpture, decorative arts, textiles, and paintings through a Conservation Technician position. This position involves treating collection objects, assisting with gallery maintenance, and participating in cross-departmental teams. The technician will also assist with administrative duties and purchase conservation supplies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree
• At least one year's previous experience in the field of conservation
• Intention to apply to a graduate program in art conservation
• Demonstrated ability to perform detailed tasks
• Demonstrated sense of organization
• Experience in the use of database software and digital imaging
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Ability to lift and/or carry 40 pounds and to work at a height of 13 feet; ability to climb ladders and scaffolding
• Commitment to advancing the ISGM's strategic initiatives
• Legal authorization to work in the United States
• Satisfactory background check
