Fire Protection Engineer

Jensen Hughes is a leading fire protection consulting firm seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to join their Maryland or Virginia office. The successful applicant will have a well-rounded background in fire protection and code consulting, strong analytical and creative thinking skills, and experience in developing building code concepts and equivalencies.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in code consulting, design of fire suppression and alarm systems, and developing performance-based strategies in a project design environment
• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Engineering (preferably Fire Protection), Architecture, or related field
• Registered Professional Engineer or other professional designation preferred
• Experience in developing building code concepts and equivalencies, conducting building plan reviews, and conducting field reviews/inspections
• Ability to present clear and technically sound fire protection engineering strategies
• Ability to work well independently and to interact with other industry professionals, associated trades, and jurisdictional authorities
• Fire alarm & fire sprinkler design knowledge/experience is a plus
