The Lansing School District is seeking Substitute Van Drivers for the F.O.R.T Program. FORT drivers will pick up and deliver students in a district-owned van to various sites as requested, including to or from school to shelters, hotels, and other temporary nighttime locations.
Requirements
- Must have a valid driver’s license, a good driving record and be at least 21 years old
- Must pass physical exam and drug/alcohol tests, and undergo reference and security checks
- Possess experience in transporting individuals through public or private service, such as bus driver, law enforcement, EMS or another similar role
- Ability to work a variable, on-call schedule and work effectively with PreK – high school age student van riders experiencing homelessness
- Willingness to work both indoors and outdoors, driving in all weather conditions
- Ability to effectively interact with students, staff, and parents from culturally diverse backgrounds and varied socio-economic levels
- Maintain a good appearance and work attitude
- Must demonstrate good communication skills as well as punctuality
- Physical ability to perform assigned tasks
- Exhibit willingness to assist and cooperate with the supervisor, coordinator, co-workers and other staff
