Job Description
Canadian Senior Counsel, Global Surety role at Liberty Mutual Canada, a newly created position to support the growth of the Global Surety book of business in Canada. The Senior Counsel will provide legal support to the business, advise on contract and commercial surety matters, and contribute to legal operational excellence.
Requirements
- Law degree (LL.B. or J.D.) and active membership in good standing with a Canadian provincial law society
- 9â12 years of relevant legal experience, with strong exposure to surety law, construction law, commercial transactions, insurance, or financial services
- Strong knowledge of Canadian contract and commercial surety law; experience with construction and infrastructure projects is an asset
- Strong business acumen with the ability to provide concise, practical, and commercially focused legal advice
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain legal concepts clearly to nonâlegal audiences
