Middle School Humanities Teacher

Live Oak is accepting resumes for a Middle School Humanities Teacher to begin in August, 2026. Applicants should have experience as head teachers, professional training, and a commitment to issues of equity and social justice.

Requirements

• Planning, consistent documentation, and implementation of the middle school humanities program
• Teaching 2 sections of 1 grade level of humanities
• Overseeing a weekly club
• Participating in duties and study halls
• Self-reflection and professional growth through goal setting, PGP program, and PD opportunities
• Leading an advisory group of middle school students
• Collaborating with grade-level team on content
• Collaborating with Middle School Learning Specialist and Deans in providing students with academic and social support
• Participating in staff, middle school division, and humanities department meetings
• Facilitating and recording notes for advisees' student-led conferences
• Developing and implementing robust assessment practices
• Providing regular feedback to students
• Preparing trimester report cards and midterm reports
• Guiding student portfolio work
• Coordinating Acorn Stories and humanities field trips
• Communicating with families
• Leading a Grove
• Participating in the middle school internal subbing program
• Supervising students during lunch, recess, and assemblies
• Collaborating with grade-level team in planning New Student Orientation
• Supporting admissions' work
• Participating in Camp Live Oak
• Supporting students during one evening event
• Attending the MS Music Festival, MS Drama Productions, and Art Show
• Participating in the outdoor ed/travel overnight education trip
• Writing speeches for graduates and attending the Eighth Grade Reflections Ceremony
