Lead Software Engineer

We're looking for a capable technical leader to lead a self-organised engineering team to design and develop software features or services that delight our customers and contribute to our mission to help Britain prosper.

Requirements

• Lead a self-organised engineering team
• Design and develop software features or services
• Take ownership of design and delivery
• Grow junior engineers capabilities and understanding of target architectures and patterns
• Work in the public cloud domain at scale, primarily with GCP
• Strong programming skills with a good working knowledge of Java, Spring Boot/Quarkus & REST APIs, hosting microservices in a container orchestration platform such as Kubernetes
• Diverse technical experience and a proven ability to deliver high quality applications at scale
• Strong knowledge of security patterns and best practice
• Effectively communicate and work together across engineering to maximise inner-sourcing opportunities and reduce waste
• An advocate for quality and can support the team leveraging approaches such as CI/CD best practice, Pair Programming, TDD and BDD
• Proven experience in a leadership role within engineering, with a track record of mentoring and developing talent
